It was not long that we learnt that once more we will take part in a Strategic Erasmus+ KA2 Partnership, which was approved in the 2018 call and the coordinators of the project will be the organisation Burdur  Huzur Evi Yaptirma Dernegi from Turkey.

The project called Breaking Digital Barriers: Building Digital Literacy for Elderly, that is expected to start soon, will rely on the collaboration of PhoenixKM BVBA (Belgium), Mehmet Akif Ersoy Halk Egitim Merksei ve Askam Sanat Okulu Murdurlugu (Turkey), Cpia CT1 (Italy) and the Centre for the Innovation and Development of Education and Technology (Spain) and it is intended to finish at the end of September of 2020. The aim of the project is to provide digital skills to seniors of 60+ and enhances the physical and social potential as well as the mental wellbeing of this specific collective in society (seniors) via their inclusion and participation. But, how can we achieve such goals? Via de completion of online courses. Thus, the project supports active ageing and the social inclusion of seniors.

Abstract: The population of older people in Burdur is increasing fast due to migration to other neighbouring cities. So, population of people age 60 and over is growing faster than any other age group. Europa faces the same situation, in fact, the research carried by “Ambient Assisted Living (AAL) Joint Programme” indicates that life expectancy in Europe has increased until 80 today. And, this involves changes in the economic, social and technological structures of the countries. Within this framework, we want to turn seniors away from exclusion, by providing them with lifelong learning opportunities and basic technology instruction. We will make sure that technologies are adapted to their needs, expectations and interests.

Which will be the intellectual outputs developed?

1- ICT based e-learning module: The goal is to enhance the digital competences of seniors. Those, will learn how to use electronic banking, weather consultation, the news, requesting a doctor’s appointment, etc. on the Internet.

2- Training material: A small handbook about the use of smartphones and the PC.
